Video Mike is an independent film maker focusing on historical subjects, equine events, TV commercials, educational seminars, horse, donkey and mule training videos, and high school athlete recruiting videos. He has a special love for rural historic themes such as farming with horses and mules, as well as for equine events.

“Video Mike” Kerson has been making videos since the 1960s. In 2001, he began serious professional film-making, with the production of Lesley Neuman's "The First Touch: Gentling Your Mustang." Between 1963 and 2001, Mike acquired a lifetime of experience, everything from studying flamenco guitar in Spain and playing flamenco professionally, making and selling hand-crafted children's toys, owning an Army-Navy Surplus store, and finally, starting in 1973, co-founding and continuously directing Vine Village, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization serving people with special needs (www.vinevillage.org)

Mike and his wife Nancy have adopted and trained wild horses of their own and have helped gentle many wild horses as volunteers for the Bureau of Land Management’s Wild Horse and Burro Program. Mike rides his mustang, Ruby, that he trained, his mule, Eleanor, and a fine mammoth donkey named, Max.  Nancy rides her mustang, Sparky, who she has taught to do many tricks.  In 2001, while attending a wild horse gentling demonstration, he met horse trainer, Lesley Neuman, and Mike filmed and produced Lesley’s highly acclaimed “First Touch” video about gentling wild horses.  This same year Video Mike Productions was launched.

Video Mike currently produces training DVDs for six different equine trainers, is perhaps best known for filming Bishop Mule Days each year since 2003. Mike's many historical and equine subjects are seen frequently on RFD-TV's "Rural Heritage" show. Mike especially loves filming historical subjects, and believes passionately in the importance of documenting living history in order to preserve it for future generations.  In 2013, Video Mike's TV ads for The Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, California, were awarded First Place Achievement Awards by the Western Fairs Association.

Mike also produces occasional recruiting videos for aspiring high school athletes, as well as educational subjects.
